The Visual Portfolio block renders through PHP templates that live in the plugin’s templates/ directory. A theme can override any of them.
Override a template
Copy the file from the plugin’s templates/ folder into a visual-portfolio/ folder in your theme, keeping the path below templates/. To override the default filter template, copy:

wp-content/plugins/visual-portfolio/templates/items-list/filter/filter.php - to
wp-content/themes/your-theme/visual-portfolio/items-list/filter/filter.php
The lookup order is: child theme, parent theme, Visual Portfolio Pro’s templates/, then the plugin’s templates/. A stylesheet next to a template (style.css) is looked up the same way. Since 3.5.2 templates are loaded only from these folders, and a path outside them is refused.

Templates change between major versions: 3.0 changed the skin structure. After an update, compare your copies with the plugin’s.
